Florence may be best known as the capital of Renaissance art and architecture, but it is also blooming with many beautiful gardens packed with fragrant flowers, ornate fountains and classic statues.
Gain a fresh perspective on Florentine art, history and culture in a hands-on floral arrangement workshop with Flower Art Creation in the heart of the city’s historical quarter. Master the art of flower arranging and create your own fragrant souvenir and unique memento of your time in Florence. Just minutes from the Boboli Gardens and Ponte Vecchio, Flower Art Creation is an experimental Florentine florist working with both dry and fresh flowers. This creative floral atelier is known for its unique bouquets and arrangements, and the most extensive selection of dry flowers in Italy.
Dried flower arrangement classes in the heart of Florence
If you are staying in one of our
luxury villas near Florence, combine creativity, beauty and history in a mindful flower arrangement class, perfect for mother-daughter bonding sessions, a hands-on local experience with your friends or even a hen party. Under the guidance of the wonderful Caterina or Anna, create a special floral creation, whether a small garland, flower box or even a candle.
Lasting 1.5 hours, this morning flower workshop will begin at 10.30am with a typical Florentine breakfast, where you can try the delicious Dolce di Iris of Pasticceria Gualtieri, a famous Florentine bakery opposite the florist on the Via Senesi. This iconic, white iced dolce takes its name from the Iris flower and is made using its pollen. The white Iris Fiorentina is itself a centuries-old, celebrated symbol of the city and the inspiration behind the Florentine coat of arms.
Over a slice of cake and a cup of coffee or tea, you’ll have the chance to meet the owner, Daniela, and discover the symbolic secrets behind the Iris flower. Workshops for up to 3 people will be hosted in the beautiful vaulted atelier, but larger groups can also be accommodated in a larger adjacent space. Fellow florists and art history experts, Caterina and Anna (guide and graduate Art Historian) will then introduce you to the artistic Renaissance influences behind the unique designs at Flower Art Creations. Demonstrating the ties between Florence and dry flower arrangements, get inspired for your special floral project. Either Caterina or Anna will then introduce you to dry flowers — the different types and how you can dry them — before demonstrating how to arrange them. They will guide you through this relaxing workshop as you then make your floral creation. You can agree with Daniela before the session on what you would like to create, whether a letter adorned with flowers, accessories for your hair, a small garland that you can hang in your home, a flower box or even a candle.
Starting at 10.30am and ending at noon, the workshop is the perfect way to start a leisurely day in Florence. Located near Porta Romana, parking is straightforward and you are well-positioned for an afternoon perusing the artisan workshops of Oltrarno and wandering the beautiful Boboli Gardens and Iris Garden if you are visiting Florence in the spring.
