Immerse yourself in the traditions and flavours of Tuscan extra-virgin olive oil on a family-run farm north of Florence near Chianti. Villa Monteoriolo is situated on a 10-hectare estate and has been in the same family for 200 years.
Perfect for guests staying in our luxury villas in Tuscany — tour the beautiful 14th-century estate, complete with around 3000 olive trees, visit the idyllic, seasonal vegetable garden and savour 0km olive oil produced on the very land around you.
The experience will begin with a tour of the estate, including the olive groves which are made up of four different varieties: Frantoio, Moraiolo, Leccino and Pendolino — all harvested by hand. Monteoriolo’s hill-top position means you’ll also be treated to stunning views of the Florentine hills to the north and Chianti to the south. The family will walk you through the fascinating production process behind each bottle of Extra-Virgin Olive Oil, before an intimate tasting of their best products.
If there is something in the seasonal vegetable garden that you especially want to try, the family will include a sample in the olive oil tasting. Each tasting is accompanied by Tuscan specialities like bread with oil, bruschetta, olives and pecorino. You will also get to savour local wines, whether white or rose wine from the neighbouring Fattorie Giannozzi estate in the Val di Pesa, or Chianti Classico from the Castel Ruggero estate.
