Inspired by the famous Mille Miglia classic car race, the Mille Miglia vintage car experience is a unique way to discover the cultural landmarks and regional cuisine of Umbria. Whether self-guided or led by an expert tour leader in a pace car, enjoy a round trip through the sublime landscapes of Italy’s Green Heart from the luxury of your vintage car.
Beginning your day in the bustling centre of Città di Castello, meander through the undulating Umbrian countryside, along the shoreline of Lago di Trasimeno, before following the ancient Roman, Via Cassia into the heart of Bolsena, just in time for a lakeside lunch. The drive should take approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes each way, leaving you plenty of time to stop off for a bite to eat and explore the many historical landmarks and natural wonders along the way. If you are staying in one of our

Personalise your itinerary in Umbria
With just five hours of driving to complete your round trip, the Mille Miglia Vintage Car Experience: Umbria Edition, invites you to relish the beauty of Umbria at a far more leisurely pace, combining the region’s cultural landmarks with a pitstop or two to sample the exquisite local cuisine. Following the pick-up and briefing on how to use your classic car at 10.00am, how you choose to fill your day can be completely customised to you.
Why not wander around the historic centre of Umbertide, stop for an Extra-Virgin Olive Oil tasting or get lost within the sleepy villages around Lago di Trasimeno. You could even decide on an alternative route along the shore of Lake Trasimeno with the sun at your heels in your Alfa Romeo Spider 1983. Drink in the view from the top of Castiglione del Lago, explore ancient castles and grand ducal palaces, medieval ruins with sweeping lakeside vistas and medieval villages with their old-world charm.
For guests in need of a little extra pampering, take your vintage car to San Casciano dei Bagni for a dip in the thermal baths before you continue along the Via Cassia into the heart of Bolsena. Stop for a late lunch in a lakeside trattoria and savour the catch of the day with a crisp glass of Orvieto DOC to wash it down before heading back to your evening rendezvous.
