On a beautiful, winding road between Orvieto, 6km/4 miles from the property, and Porano, 2km/1.5 miles. Both are dramatically located on hilltops: Orvieto is by far the larger, with plenty of shops around its base and great restaurants - and a gorgeous, striped Duomo - on top; Porano is charming and virtually unknown, boasting a fortress, a weekly market, a bank, a few shops, a handful of restaurants and bars, and public tennis courts. Bolsena and Montefiascone, in Lazio, can be reached in less than 30 minutes. Todi is about an hour's drive.

We never wanted to leave. This is one of the best rental homes for us in Italy and we have been renting homes for years in Italy. The communication from day one with the owners, AnnaRita and Sabina were prompt and informative. The house itself is wonderful and there was not one thing we needed…the attention to detail in the house was the best and we loved the welcoming basket too…the house was spotless, extremely comfortable and safe and secure. The incredible view was like a different painting everyday…we loved the location, the property, pool ..everything. A bonus was the gentle cats and dog that would visit and it enhanced the “warm home feeling” here……also a note about “Tuscany now and more” who were the agent for this property, .they couldn’t of been more helpful and responsive also from day one..they are a very professional company with responsive and informative representatives…all in all this was an incredible stay with nice friendly warm owners and we can’t wait to return someday…thanks to all who made this part of our trip 100% fantastico …do not hesitate to Rent this beautiful home with warm friendly owners using Tuscany Now and More who offer fine properties ..,it was the best !

Our family spent 3 weeks here. We started with a great meal prepared by Annarita. The Villa was perfect and the views were fantastic. We explored this beautiful area, ate at wonderful restaurants and also had time to relax and enjoy the Italian culture. Anna Rita was a wonderful host and couldn’t do enough to make us feel welcome. Our third visit to the La Grande Quercia was as wonderful experience as we had hoped. The villa , the pool and the view of Orvieto are all perfect. We have enjoyed some tasty meals especially at Colle Ombroso and at the Trattoria da Gigetto (by the lago di Bolsena) but the best meal was the one which Annarita cooked for us! Finally here at La Grande Quercia after waiting for more than two years of this visit! We really enjoyed our stay in this lovely place. Very relaxing vacation week indeed. Annarita was very kind and helpful during our stay here. Her dinner service at one evening was very tasty and memorable. We experienced during our stay Lago di Bolsena, Porano, Orvieto old town, Todi and many more…great tastes were experienced at Porano “da Claudio” and in the near-by “Girarrosto” restaurant. Weather was hot and sunny the whole week and thus the pool was in active use. Thanks Annarita for the hospitability! The week here full filled well our expectations! Grazie!

After a two years wait, thanks to covid, staying here held up to expectation. We’ve have a fabulous two weeks exploring the region. Particular highlights were the Monster Park, Civita di Bagnoregio and Rocca di Ripesena, we’d love to see that where the roses are out. Orvieto is of course beautiful and we ‘ve all enjoyed the food, including a meal by Annarita. We will certainly recommend coming to friends and family. From four Watsons and three Davies.

Our first visit to this part of Italy. What a treat! We loved everything, especially the peace of the area. The children enjoyed the pool and the table tennis room. I must mention the wonderful view from this terrace - wow, we will all remember its beauty

A fantastic two week stay with wonderful visit to Orvieto, Todi, Bolsena and Porano. Idyllic spot, made even more perfect by Annarita's delicious cooking! Lydia's first holiday at five months old! I only wish we could stay a bit longer!

A great experience in all respects! The villa has a walking path through the surrounding farm with sheep, cows, bulls, and of course the many kitty cats (one of which during our stay gave birth to several kittens outside our front door). This path eventually leads to the main road to Porano, and an easy walk to a nearby Etruscan tomb with burial crypts and ancient fresco paintings ... truly a sight to behold. Anna Rita helpfully arranged a viewing of the tomb by a very pleasing local guide.

Yet again, Annarita, we have had a wonderful stay in your villa at La Grande Quercia! The view is to die for and the pool is wonderful. Annarita's cooking was restaurant quality and our mouths water at the memory! In Orvieto we would recommend "Orvieto underground" for an amazing tour of Etruscan, Medieval and WWII caves.

The villa and the pool were perfect and we much appreciated the meal that Annarita prepared for us. We never tired of the wonderful views of Orvieto from the terrace and the well behaved and charming cats were an added bonus. We would also like to thank Mirko for the fascinating tours of the Etruscan tomb and his explanation of the impressive frescoes. As regards restaurants, we can recommend The Trattoria del Conte and we also enjoyed the treat meal at the Fattoria La Cacciata near Panzano. Arrivederci!

We have spent a very enjoyable week. Annarita is an excellent hostess - kind and helpful - and an excellent cook. She provided us with two meals, for one of which some of us helped in preparing pasta, tomato sauce and a chocolate cake. We have mainly stayed close to home with few visits to Orvieto and a tour of the Etruscan tombs with Murto - highly recommend. A visit to Bagnoregio makes an easy excursion. The Osteria del Ponte looks permanentely closed but there is a fair selection of restaurants and bars in the Civita itself. We endorse the recommendation for Trattoria del Conte where we had a good lunch, as we did in the elegant garden of the Sette Consoli in Orvieto. You can get good take away pizza from the pizzeria in Porano - new town.
P.S. Did anyone mention the view of Orvieto?

Two lakeside restaurants are also worth of mention: The Rivafiorita on Lago di Vico and the not too hard to find Trattoria di Giggetto on Lago di Bolsena. Lots of excursions mentioned in the house-book, we would recommend the Villa Farnese in Caprola. Arrivederci! Thanks!

Going home now after spending 2 weeks in this lovely house. we came mainly for the Corteo Corpus Domini in Orvieto which did not disappoint. Having spent many holidays in this part of Italy we weren't pressed to visit about seeing everything and were content to relax at the house enjoying the amazing views and generally chilling out. However we had managed to miss Civita di Bagnoregio on previous visits so were grateful for the top tip about going there early! It's hard to have a bad meal in Umbria and ours varied from plain and simple to fine dining - everywhere a joy. So we had a lovely time here coinciding our visit with haymaking and lots of poppies in the fields. Our hostess was super helpful and attentive to everything and we would visit again especially to watch, glass in hand, the swifts and/or swallows joyfully flying over the pool.

Had a great family holiday in this lovely villa. Annarita was always helpful and cooked an amazing meal for us the night we arrived. Visited lots of places - a few recommendations: Siena (1h and 30mis by car), Civita del Bagnoregio, Lake di Bolsena: Todi and of course Orvieto. Also did a day trip to Rome which was excellent you can get a fast inter city train to Rome in 1hr. Italian food and wine were always good and we ate and drank our fair shave and boosted local gelato sales! In addition to Annarita's excellent meal we would recommend the cafe' bar in Tamburino for cappuccino and the restaurant San Severo. Many other really good restaurants in Orvieto. the cots are lovely. Thank you for a great holiday

Spent a week with my family here. Loved the views, the cats and the puppy. We spent several evenings preparing our own meals and enjoying them with the Orvieto view and smelling the jasmine . We will remember the trip forever!

The view from the patio is unbeatable. The outdoor living, including the pool, fall into the "sublime" category. The hosts (Annarita and Sabina) are extremely friendly and helpful. The accommodation is comfortable. The third bedroom (with the mezzanine beds) is not ideal for adults since access to the bathroom at night requires one to navigate down a staircase.

We have just had five wonderful days at La Grande Quercia move perfect by the beauty of the farm, the breath-taking view and warmth and care of Annarita and Sabina. By popular vote, the dinner which Annarita prepared for us on the patio was the highlight of all our culinary experiences. We really appreciated the La Grande Quercia house book notes which provides all the information we need - and we enjoyed sending this book, getting insight and ideas from other guests' experiences. Traveling with Cornel and Laura, We agree our expectations were exceeded! It was the perfect place! Gazing over beautiful sunrise and sunset highlighting the magnificent view of Orvieto. The comforts of home after a day of travel to Florence, Assisi, Spleto, Orvieto, Porano - so many places to explore! The Etruscan tomb was very, very special. As was the incredible home cooked meal by Annarita upon our arrival will recommend those experiences to others!
We enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere of your country, spend time in the local market to prepare authentic Italian dishes for our evenings and ate at many great restaurants! The wine was excellent as well!!

Just spent an absolutely fabulous relaxing week at this lovely villa. The view of Orvieto is spectacular. Anna e Sabrina were fabulous and Anna's fresh eggs were just divine.. scrambled with fresh tomatoes.
Spent many relaxing evenings with our 2 teenagers eating outside, enjoying cooking local products and drinking local wine. Old Orvieto town was incredible with lovely ice-cream and cafelattes. Superb week of relaxation, before "hitting Florence" and Venice. Now I'd thoroughly recommend this villa to everyone, very homely, clean and fully equipped.

We had a wonderful time exploring Umbria and relaxing at the villa. We loved the view, the sheep, the garden and the pool..pretty much we loved everything! We stopped everyday to have a cappuccino at the place in Tamburino and it was the best we have ever had. We hope to come back to explore new wineries and sights as well as rediscover our favorites from this trip.

We have had a fabulous stay at La Grande Quercia - we loved it! Outstanding for two reasons - Anna Rita's kindness and friendliness - she is so lovely! She cooked us a superb meal one night - the highlight of our holiday. And the views of Orvieto - simply sublime! Orvieto itself is a wonderful city to wander round - we walked just about every street of it, and into every church. We just loved it!

The villa had everything we needed - it was well provided with kitchen equipment. The house was cleaned mid week, and sheets and towels were changed on the Saturday in the middle of our 2 weeks stay.

The villa more than lived up to expectations. It was a comfortable environment where we could all relax and have fun. The pool, table tennis and gardens provided everything we needed on site. Anna Rita was a lovely hostess, kind and helpful but never intrusive.We loved the layout and décor of the villa. The view of Orvieto and the cathedral was the icing on the cake!
