Le Gorgacce

What a magical place for a family reunion and birthday celebrations. Thankfully, we could capture the exquisite beauty of sunrise and sunset over the monastery on film (cell phone camera). Beautiful views in every direction to remember. Shout out to the chef Letizia for eight wonderful gourmet meals and Giorgina for keeping us neat and tidy and always greeting one with warmth. Angelo kept the grounds and pool scrupulously neat and spiffy. Always ready with a smile, good advice and charm. We were ten people with friends and family including two little girls (10 and 13), now bitten by the travel bug who will never forget Le Gorgacce. Grazie! We were at the villa for two amazing weeks. All in all six adults and seven children aged 2,3,2x7,9,11,17. We went to: horse riding, truffle hunting, sunset picnic, pizza dinner and chef dinner at the villa, all a must. Big thank you fro all who made these two weeks an unforgettable holiday. Kind regards. We visited with our 4 children (19,17,14,9) from Florida in the US. It was an unforgettable vacation! Chiara was wonderful. She had groceries for us, prepared and joined for an Umbrian truffle hunt w/ Lorenzo. A must do! The highlight of our week was the 2 chef meals at the villa with Letizia and Chiara assisting. What a blissful stay at Le Gorgacce. A million thanks for allowing us to stay, guests from London, Johannesburg + Cape Town loved every minute. Wonderful two weeks 50th wedding anniversary celebration. One week with brothers and sisters and one week (with our children) (without their children!?!). Our family had been waiting to celebrate a 60th birthday since 2020. it's two years passed, but on so worth the wait! The highlight of our stay at the Gorgacce are certainly the pool and terrace, the attentions of Alessandro who made sure all of us were happy, and the layout of the house. As a previous traveller mentioned, it is possible to enjoy all the communal spaces and have the luxury of hiding in one of the rooms :-) . We had a truly wonderful two week at the Gorgacce. The beauty of the property and surrounding area are immediately apparent, with is less so, but which surplus the segret ingredient, was the warmth + charm of the people. Alessandro was responsive, gracious and totally winning. Angelo was so helpful but unobtrusive, and the chef Isabella? Mamma mia! She took us into her family, bridged the language gap with affection and her wonderful cooking, and made us not just full (though that she did) but treasured memories. Grazie mille! We came from the UK (London) and Toronto (Canada) and stayed for one week. The grounds and the pool are very amazing and we had a lovely time. We would recommend the restaurant in the village nearby, that was amazing! Thanks again!

Le Gorgacce per sempre!! We had the most beautiful week at Le Gorgacce. We celebrated our wedding here with our three families from Minnesota (USA) and it could not have been more perfect. Alessandro made all the arrangement and was so helpful for us. Chiara took great care of us while we were here. Lorenzo came and cooked for the wedding and made a beautiful and delicious dinner. It was a perfect stay from start to finish, and we hope to come back again soon

Two great weeks in Umbria. The first week with 6 , the second week with 3 of us, mom, dad and our Malcom. The calm, the view and the cooling during the night gave us mindfulness for the coming months. Thank a lot to Alessandro and the team for taking so good care. Hope to be back soon

Covid made us spent 2 years of summers at home, while we all love Italy. The stunning house of Le Gorgacce made up to all of our expectations. Large space for 14 of us, well equipped kitchen and fantastic pool ( in the beginning a bit cool). Being on this height of more or less 600mt, the summer heat is quite accettable. The permanent view on Monte Santa Maria Tiberina is always splendid and the sun downs are different every evening. Citta’ di Castello is a small town but very pleasing, the top is the Burri Collection! Also worth visiting are san Sepolcro, Monterchi, Cortona, lake Trasimeno. Our morning runs on the banks of Tevere made us dream of Rome. Fantastic holiday, ending too soon.

Wonderful week! We spent relaxing hours in the beautiful pool area and gardens of the villa. Excellent dinners and the aperitif with the cook: delicious Umbrian dishes! #panzanella for ever. Ciao!!

Well, it looks like we have been the first to visit in the age of the "new normal" after covid... And we are so pleased that we have done so! Le Gorgacce is in such a tranquil and peaceful spot in which you feel truly envelop by nature: we've seen deer in the flat field below the hammock, lizards, a huge hare on the lawn, goldfinches and buzzards, and of course many iridescent green winged beetle and hummingbird moths and butterflies. The pool has been terrific and the cosy dining area near the kitchen has played host to card games, laughter and dancing at various times during the week. Isabella's meals on the terrace have been a highlight and she was so helpful when we had to quickly relocate under cover during an apocalyptic thunder and hail storm! Alessandro has been a cheerful and helpful guide to the villa, with his funky shoes and football banter! Thanks also to our house keeper and "piscina man" both of whom have been very friendly. Beyond the villa , we recommend the following: 1) Perugia, a beautiful and fascinating city with real buzz. Park in the underground area by the bus station and let the escalators take you to the heights of the old centre. Osteria dei Priori near the Palazzo Priori is excellent and sensibly priced. 2) Santa Maria is as lovely as it looks from the lawn, Oscari is a terrific place for dinner, sitting high above the valley. 3) Cortona is buzzing and beautiful, if you don't mind the crowds 4) Taking the boat into Lago Trasimeno to Isla Maggiore is a great day out and there is a lovely restaurant on the island. 5) Gubbio is amazing Back here, I even used the gym once (raining) which is a good extra, although if it's warm, I imagine it's seldom used. We took some great underwater photos through the special windows into the pool. Also, make sure you take time to enjoy all the objects d'art around the house, especially in the glass-topped table on the stairs Arrivederci e Grazie! Dan and Germaine, Nottinghamshire, England. Absolutely fantastic holiday and house. We had an amazing time and lived by the enormous swimming pool. We highly recommend Oscari at Monte Santa Maria Tiberina for lunch and dinner as well as coffee in the sun! The food was divine. We are very sad to leave and could easily spend another week or two here - we look forward to coming again! Thanks for a great holiday!

We enjoyed multiple wine tours with our with our favourites at: Avignonesi and Boscarelli (in Montepulciano). We loved the meals prepared here at Le Gorgacce - Isabella prepared the most wonderful and classic Umbrian foods. Our birthday celebrations were amazing. We enjoyed our massages and the cooking lesson was fabulous! Alessandro was super alternative and helped us adrress all issues including needing 2 new pool floaties. Enjoy!

We have had an amazing week at Le Gorgacce villa with many happy hours enjoyed around the stunning swimming pool! The views & fragrance from the garden left us dizzy (nothing to do with the Prosecco, wine & beer!!!) At night the sight of literally dozens of fireflies will live forever in our memories! We can highly recommend Oscari at Monte Santa Maria Tiberina but booking is advised. Alessandro & Isabella also made us a fab Italian meal at the Villa - an absolute must!!! La Gorgacce was a wonderfully convenient base to explore the region’s attractions - Gubbio, Cortona, Assisi & Città di Castello were all great day trips. Thanks for an awesome stay!

Thoroughly enjoyed our one week stay under the Umbrian Sun, but mostly rain. However the wood fire place, and beautiful scenery more than made up for the weather. Maria provided a good dinner option, while day trips to Perugia, Gubbio, Pienza and Montalcino. Are well worth the drive. Lastly, highly recommend a home cooked lasagna by the in-house chef. Enjoy...we did!

Thank you. tahnk you. Thank you! We have had the most amazing month enjoying the Umbrian countryside and hospitality, swimming, eating, cooking, exploring in a world we only dream about. We had the pleasure of friends and family stay with us in a home that bring you together but also gives you space to enjoy that ever need time. Thank you for giving us a place to sleep away from the crazy world. Monte Santa Maria Tiberina has three restaurants and we enjoyed meals at the three so close and so yummy!

We have had a wonderful holiday at Le Gorgacce for one week we were a party of of nine (2 families with adult children) for 5 days just the 4 "older". Thank you for all their help to Giulia TNAM and Alessandro on behalf of the kind owners. There have been many happy and relaxing evenings enjoying the extraordinary views form the front of Le gorgacce and looking out over the spoiled Umbian hills. Dinners up on the lovely "swimming pool terrace" have also been a treat. We have all marvelled at the quiet, the birdsong and the scent of the trees and lavender (a spotted occasional far-off boar or deer!). Among the lovely near-by places visited have been Gubbio (so beautiful!), tiny Montone, Anhgiari, San Sepolcro and Montevarchi (after the Sunday sunset)- as well as Citta' di Castello itself. We also really enjoyed our visit to Arezzo. For great dinners out o genuine Umbrian "slow food", we would recommend: - Osteria dei Sensi in Montone (closed Weds) - "Oscari" Santa Maria tiberina (so friendly, great terrace!) - Ristorante Nena in Anghiari - Ristorante Fiorentino in San Sepolcro - La Lea in Citta' di Castello - Al Traveto in Montevarchi We also has a lovely meal cooked for us here at Le Gorgacce, arranged by the owners: thank you!!!
