The nearby Orvieto Scalo, 7km/4 miles, is the nearest place where to find a wide selection of shops, bars and restaurants, including a small shopping mall with a large supermarket. The medieval city of Orvieto, 10km/6 miles, boasts a selection of shops and restaurants as well as sites of architectural and historical importance, such as the Duomo di Orvieto, one of the most beautiful Italian cathedral and a masterpiece of the gothic architecture of the center of Italy. Orvieto with its narrow cobbled streets is a beautiful hilltop city sitting on a volcanic rock so as its defensive walls. The hilltop medieval town of Todi with its remarkable churches can be reached in under an hour, Siena, Assisi and Rome within about 1 hour and 30 minutes’ drive.

What a truly breathtaking villa & setting. We have had the most amazing week staying here – wish it was for longer! Thank you so much Saverio – you have been so welcoming and helpful during our stay :D You can really notice the difference with the swimming pool being salt water – it’s divine! Our recommendations for any future guests: -day trip to Assisi (about 1 ½ hours drive), beautiful town placed on the hill, lots to see!; -best food we had: Il Labirinto in Orvieto, they have an incredible cave system you can get a private tour of when you dine. "After a month of watching the sunsets to the west, I rose before dawn to sit on the upper terrace and enjoy the sights and sounds of a sunrise. The night's solitude surrendered to the cicadas walking and chirping, and the cocks crowing and gods barking across the ridges and lakes. Our time in Loliondo has been filled with sensations we will remember and cherish- the scent of lavender, the cool night breezes, and sudden tans of salt when plunging into the pool. the fresh savor of garden vegetables, and the daily sampling of the local Umbrian fare. But even more than the pleasures of unhurried meals in the quiet serene terraces, we will remember the warmth and generosity of our host, Saverio. I am rested and restored by our stay here, sorry to leave but satisfied in every way by the rhythm of the daily pleasures and the adventures into the town of Orvieto, Todi, and the walks we took into the hills. We will miss you Saverio. Thanks so much for your kindness and hospitality. Please give us a call when you come to London.

Thank you so much for our wonderful stay at Podere Loliondo! You are such thoughtful and gracious hosts and made us feel so welcome and comfortable during our time staying in your beautiful villa! From the comfortable rooms to the gorgeous views of the Umbrian countryside, the sunrises and sunsets, the cool pool which was perfect during hot days, and the gorgeous terrace for a aperitivo and sundown it was truly a magical holiday. We have loved staying here and exploring all of the wonderful villages and cities which are really just on your doorstep, and of course enjoying delicious food + gelato. This was our first trip to Umbria but it will not certainly be the last! I also enjoyed very much the clay pigeon shooting - although we should not tell that to Alfredo :)
Shame I did not get to play a round of 3 course golf. A reason to come back next time! Thank you so much again for our Fantastic Hosts! The perfect family home with so much love and warmth. We hope to be back soon!

It was absolutely perfect. Greatest vacation. The owners of Loliondo were absolutely a pleasure. The house was decorated as a 5 STAR hotel and accommodated everyone so comfortably. We are coming back, only thing was the HEAT wave. 102 degrees most days but the pool was so refreshing and we lived in the beautiful grounds. STUNNING!
