In the open farmlands along the Tuscan-Umbrian boarder, where almost every village is medieval and on a hilltop. The closest of these is Cetona, 10-minute drive, with a small food shop 3 minutes away at tiny Piazze. Good walking, mountain biking and horseback riding in the Monte Rufeno Reserve immediately to the south. The famous thermal baths at Fonteverde (San Casciano dei Bagni) one of the Leading SPA in Europe, and Sarteano are reached in 20 minutes. It's a beautiful drive to Montepulciano, and a quick trip down the motorway to Orvieto, both 45 minutes. Day trips within an hour's drive might include Siena, with a stop at Pienza, or Perugia.

Thank you for a wonderful holiday, we have had our last 2 weeks at Poggio Alto. The location is great and so is the accommodation, ideal for both children (pool brilliant) and adults. There is easy access to many lovely hill top villages all around, with lovely shops and excellent restaurants. The caretaker staff were well helpful at all times. Weather complimented the situation. We had a wonderfully relaxing time here at Poggio Alto, which really is a home from home with everything we could possibly need. We survived the heatwave easily with dips into the pool and AC! We also enjoyed heading to eat in Piazze (Osteria), Montepulciano and Città della Pieve, where they have a delicious gelateria. We are in awe of your gardens too! What a lovely week! The house was perfect in all ways and the gardens too, with the enormous pool as well. All so clean and tidy, a true second home, with everything one could need. We did great trips out to Piazze (obv), Centona, Chiusi, Città della Pieve, then Montepulciano and the highlight was Pienza (all one hour away max). Thank you for having us and see you again one day. We rented the house for a family gathering of 10 adults and 2 kids and everyone loved it! From the 1-yer old to the grandparents. We’ve been exploring the small, cute villages around and also took the cars to Siena one day. Yesterday we had a great evening in Cetona and we can really recommend the village and the pizza at “Pizza e hamburger da Nilo”. This is a week we won’t forget. It was brilliant in every way! And I’d love to use Tuscany Now again..... We’re having a change from Italy this year for our holiday but we love the place and no doubt will be back sooner or later, several times I hope!
The Villa was perfect for an extended family – flexible accommodation but all the bedrooms were decent so no one felt they drew the short straw.... and the team of people who looked after the place were fantastic.... Friendly and attentive, but we never felt like we were in their way, and they were never in our way.
Pool was great, facilities all worked, plenty of space - we felt quite the lords of the manor!
I look back on our time at the Villa with such joy.

A perfect setting for a joint family vacation plenty of cozy space for a crowd – everyone had a great time.
Beautiful views – the pool and the “yoga lounge” were great.
The location is terrific – we loved exploring the local towns – close to the trains for excursions.
Mirella was lovely – kind and helpful.
We will all miss morning coffee overlooking the beautiful countryside.

Ci siamo trovati molto bene in questa splendida e raffinatissima casa ed estate.
C'e' l'atmosfera intellettuale e di calda accoglienza.
Ci sentivamo come a casa nostra, sia grazie alla presenza molto cordiale di Mirella e Marsilio sia pwr il fatto che ci accomunano simili sensibilita' in scelte di dettagli e il gusto.
Abbiamo voglia di tornare, spero gia' il prossimo anno.

We came to Italy most years as a group and this is definitely one of the best places we have ever stayed in. Beautiful house and fabulous ground all very well maintained. Mirella was very helpful but not intrusive. Some of the views over the countryside are straight out of a Renaissance painting

Ciao! Wow. Just wow. This was probably the best holiday we have ever had. The villa is bellissima! With it's beautiful statues, archways, furniture and many many books it was quite extraordinary. The pool was also stunning. It looked beautiful at night. we are going to miss it all!

Thank for all the help the Concierge team provided before leaving England.
The pool was gun, it was really nice as all the views were extraordinary! We were blown away. The help was perfect: every time we needed something someone was there to help.

What a beautiful house is an amazing setting. Truly part of the real Tuscan landscape!

Roberta, the chef, absolutely stole the show with a 4 course meal cooked for 13, I highly recommend her.
The house is a fantastic base from where to explore the local towns of Citta' della Pieve, Cortona, and San Casciano dei Bagni as well as using the train station at Chiusi to get further to Florence, Siena and Rome.
Of the local restaurant, we recommend Ristorante Daniela in San Casciano dei Bagni and the bar next door run by Daniela's son!
The cleaning woman was a great help, very friendly and always doing an excellent job!
We are so sad to be going home and would have loved to have stayed even longer!

What an extraordinary place, house, pool, views and area! We have fully enjoyed it all.
The sky at nicht is amazing - never seen a clear night sky like it!
Roberta, la cuoca, was super with her local Italian dishes and the translator Robin was lovely!
It was nice to meet all the helpers from the villa/house.
Loved the nearby towns!
Pool was amazing for the kids especially!

The property is very well furnished and the amenities were second to none. The gardens are peaceful and it was magical to be in the presence of fireflies at night. The pool was fabulous but the view from the loggia were we ate breakfast will be missed every day. Tuscany Now is an excellent, trustworthy company that we would highly recommend. The spectacular photographs are true to life and the accuracy of the information is refreshing.

The property itself is a true hidden gem,
Poggio Alto was a home for us for the whole month of August, allowing the whole family to join under the same household as our Mother requested for her 75th birthday wish.
We enjoyed much needed family time with with loved ones in a relaxing atmosphere immersed in the middle of nature.
The beautiful hills and green valleys are a priceless view when waking up with morning coffee, while the pool is a real gift, allowing private moments of peace and quiet while cooling off in the clear waters day or night.
The many different fruits and flowers provide a feeling of Eden. The main house had a lovely room division and was furnished in good taste. The kitchen was big enough to allow the family cooking of meals and had large dinner tables for big family meals. in other words the estate is perfect for families of 10/16 people who are looking to stay in Tuscany/Umbria and wishing to leave the city hassle for a few days.
The Team of Tuscany and Now was very helpful, super professional and did a great job in arranging all our different family needs.
The Team of Taos provided excellent transport, a lovely wine tour and a few meals by a private chef Luciana who made us her yummy family recipes.
The caretakers of the property Mr Marsilio and Mrs Mirella ware absolutely amazing, very gentle with their care of all of our family tribe of various ages, always available and helping us in every need with kindness and very much appreciated patience, and yes also freshly made beds each day.
Matteo the gardener kept the beautiful estate and gardens in perfect condition.
All in all it was the best family holiday ever and I hope you enjoy your holidays in Poggio Alto as much as we did.
