The interiors are just as stately as the villa grounds, with spacious rooms and large air-conditioned bedrooms that exude a refined old-world charm and are exclusively yours to enjoy. There is a stunning sitting room with an open gallery on the first floor that looks down into this ornate space, in addition to a primary and secondary dining room and a hall with a wide staircase that leads up to the first floor and villa tower. It is a truly magical setting for a destination wedding; while the bridal party sit for their hair and makeup in the master suite, the groomsmen can unwind with a negroni in the billiards room.

Torre della Duchessa is perfect for an intimate wedding of up to 50 guests but can accommodate up to 90 guests for an additional fee. When you opt for a villa wedding at Torre della Duchessa, the ceremony can be either symbolic or civil. Torre della Duchessa has the legalisation of a Municipal House, making it a divine setting for civil and legal ceremonies, officiated by a councillor from the municipality of Perugia. If you are planning a civil ceremony, Elena can help take care of all the necessary legal documents to take the stress and confusion out of planning a wedding abroad. The best days for a wedding ceremony at Torre della Duchessa are Monday through Thursday. Exchange vows in the Italian gardens surrounded by fragrant flowers and classical fountains, say ‘I do’ in the intimate amphitheatre or tie the knot on the grand villa terrace. Invite your guests to join you for a champagne toast by the private swimming pool that sits beneath a canopy of tall pine trees and throw the bridal bouquet from the elegant staircase that leads to the villa amphitheatre.

Elena will work alongside you and a caterer of your choice to plan a bespoke wedding menu for your wedding day banquet. Hold your evening reception outdoors on the expansive villa terrace with tranquil views of the surrounding parkland and make the most of the Umbrian sunshine with your friends and family. Or, if you don’t want to take any risks with the weather, the beautiful frescoed veranda is a bright and elegant setting for your wedding feast with space for up to 80 guests. The manicured lawns that surround the villa are also the perfect setting for a marquee if you require more space and want to create your unique dancefloor. Although Elena recommends the terrace for dancing; with its symmetrical paving, it's like a natural dance floor that can be fitted out with lighting, flowers and set design, plus that all-important space for a DJ!

A quick 2-minute drive from the villa (or a 10-minute walk) will bring you to a small Umbrian village called Pila, where you’ll find shops, supermarkets, bars and restaurants while Perugia, the capital of Umbria, is within a 20-minute drive (14km). Perugia is a very active city with a beautiful historical centre and an endless choice of restaurants and small shops to explore. There are many historical and artistic treasures nearby to explore such as Assisi (34km), Todi (42km), Spoleto (76km), Cortona (55km) and even Montepulciano (61km) and Orvieto (72km) slightly further afield. There are also lesser-known villages aplenty with some beautiful churches and piazzas, not to mention an abundance of wineries to visit. Less than a 30-minute drive west is Italy’s 4th largest lake, Lago Trasimeno, whose magical islands and picturesque villages offer plenty of outdoor activities including bird watching, trekking, sailing and swimming.
